Even though I love makeup and clothes, I really do not care for spending any extra money on my hair, this results in a lot of travel size hair products (that I generally do not even end up using more than a few times). I would way rather have a new shirt than a new dry shampoo. Therefore, I have been using the same hair products for a long time and I have not found anything that works better for my hair. I have repurchased all the products listed here several times, and even made my mom a “Not Your Mother’s” fan. If it’s not broke don’t fix it! I understand not all hair products work for everyone, so here is a little description of my hair so you can judge if these products might work for you! Also: I use all these products after using hot tools on my hair, so you may have a different experience on natural hair.
My hair: a lot of hair that is thin in diameter, long, healthy, naturally somewhere between straight and wavy depending on length of hair, layered.
This hairspray is the best hairspray I have ever used! I used to be afraid of hairspray, I remember using super heavy, glue-like hairspray for cheerleading. However, after I decided I needed to add a little volume and make my beach waves stay put, I tried out this hairspray. This hairspray is so light on the hair, does not make your hair feel heavy, coated, or dull, and lasts long enough to keep shape in your hair throughout the day. For someone that wants to achieve an easy beach wave look, or keep baby hairs in place, I highly recommend this spray and will continue to repurchase forever!
Before using this product I had never used a leave-in conditioner on my hair. I was always too afraid it would leave my hair greasy. However, this winter my hair was getting very dry with the cold temperatures, an issue I had never experienced. I decided maybe a conditioning product would make my hair smooth again. Luckily this product worked great. This product has a nice fragrance and does exactly what it says. I even put this product on some of my baby hairs and I swear they have grown! I use this product every single day after I shower and it is one of the best products I have ever used on my hair. I also find that this product makes my hair dry SO quickly. This is a huge benefit for me because my hair used to take 5 hours to dry naturally and now it takes an hour or less.
This product is amazing for keeping waves intact, creating some extra waves, and creating extra volume. I use this product on my dry, curled hair every day. This product always makes my hair look 100x better than when I just use my curling wand. I also really like the smell of it, something that has mixed reviews online. Even though this product is a little heavier than the hairspray I mentioned earlier in this post, it really does its job. I also like using this product if I braid my hair, it makes my fishtail braid look a little messier and beachy.
How do I use these products?
After getting out of the shower I towel dry my hair for a few minutes leaving my hair damp. I then spray a generous amount of the leave in conditioner all over my hair, creating a deep left side part and spraying, then doing the same on the right side. I then spray the baby hairs behind my ears and comb through all my hair with my finger tips. The last step is spraying the very ends of my hair and rubbing it in. I then let my hair dry, if I am in a time crunch I will blow-dry my hair. After my hair is completely dry, I curl it with a one inch wand. I then will do a quick spray using the hairspray mentioned above. Then I generally go back and curl a few waves that have fallen or look weird. My last step is spraying 2 or 3 spritzes of the beach wave sea salt spray on each sides of my head. Then I scrunch the waves to create texture and add another spray or two to my roots for volume!
